(HD) RECIPE: Home Made Chinese Roasted Pork Belly 脆皮燒肉

** This was actually my very first attempt at this Roasted Pork Belly. I wasn’t going to film a video of it as I didn’t know if it would be a success or fail. Fortunately, it turned out quite nice. =) So, please excuse the crappy unprofessional filming ~.~”

If you find it is too difficult to prick the pork skin when the pork is raw, you could follow the steps in the video exactly, EXCEPT wait until you have removed the thick layer of course salt, prick the pork skin before you put it back into the oven for the very last step (skin popping and crackling). The skin becomes much easier to handle (pricking holes) when the piece of pork is cooked.

For every 1.2kg of Pork Belly:

1/2 tbsp Chinese cooking wine
3.5 tsp Salt ( for marinating )
2 tsp Sugar ( which I didn’t add )
1/2 tsp Five Spice Powder
1/3 tsp White Pepper Powder

    I tried this recipe last night and it was not crispy. The meat was tender and flavorful but the skin was not crispy at all. Perhaps I should prick it less? Because I used knife tip to prick it

    I made it today not as crispy as your but actually really good. Mine is a little burn during the last process, first of all I didn't snug a foil tight enough because the meat is shrink and second I didn't put enough salt cover it.

  12. FYI for some ovens, GRILL is the same as BROIL, as long the heat is from above

    This is what we eat in Norway for the Christmas holidayes only xD
    Only with potatos and vegetables, not rice.
    Also we use around 6 hours+ to slow cook it the whole christmas morning D:

    Simple instructions to get a successfully crispy 燒肉!I suggest bake longer to obtain greater display of colour :).
