Shukto – Pure Traditional Bengali Recipe Shukto – Authentic Bengali Food with Mixed Vegetables

Ingredients of Bengali Style Shukto:
1. Drumstick
2. Brinjal
3. Raw banana
4. Bitter gourd
5. Potatoes
6. Sweet potatoes
7. Pointed gourd
8. Raw papaya
9. Bori (Sun dried lentil dumplings).
10. Mustard seed ( ½ tsp).
11. Mustard seed paste
12. Green chilli paste
13. Turmeric powder
14. Wild celery ( ¼ tsp).
15. Wild celery pest
16. Poppy seeds paste
17. 4 Bay leaf
18. 2 Dry chilli.
19. Ginger paste
20. Amul spray milk powder
21. Sugar.
22. Salt
23. Refined oil.
24. Ghee.

Methods of How to Cook Authentic Bengali Shukto Recipe:
1. First roast the bori (Sun dried lentil dumplings) in dry hot pan. Then add 2 tbsp oil and fry it. Keep aside.
2. Add 10 tbsp oil in hot pan.
3. Add ½ tsp mustard seeds, ¼ tsp wild celery, 4 bay leaves, and 2 dry chilli. Fry for 10 to 15 sec.
4. Add all vegetables. Mixed it well.
5. Add 1tsp turmeric powder. Mixed it well.
6. Close the lid. Cook for 15 min in medium flame. Stir between regularly.
7. Now take 1 lit hot water and add amul spray milk powder. Mixed it well.
8. Open the lid and fry all the vegetables in high flame for 2 min.
9. Add 2 tbsp ginger paste, 3 tbsp poppy seeds paste, 2 tbsp wild celery paste, green chilli paste and 4 tbsp mustard seeds paste. Mixed it well. Fry for 2 minutes in medium flame.
10. Add 1 tsp salt. Mixed it well.
11. Add 1 Lt. Milk. When boiling close the lid. Cook for 10 minutes in medium flame.
12. Now cook in high flame. Add 3 Tsp sugar. Also add fried Sun dried lentil dumplings.
13. Taste salt and sugar and add if required.
14. Now cook for 5 minutes. Add 3 tsp Ghee and close the lid for 5 minutes.
Bengali Traditional Shukto is ready. Serve it with hot steamed rice.
